Monday April 18, 1864. A long cheering letter from Sister Manda. today. Still writing. Called to see Capt' Knox in regard to the Orphans Home. Evening with Bro' Tuesday 19 Attended the Veteran reception. Entertainment with Mr. Sweeney. Finished Rob Roy. The Bible better than all other reading. Wednesday 20 Did the usual amount of writing, and finished Martin Chuzzlewit. Rather like some of it. Mrs [Darwins?] leacture eve with Mr. Pierce and Libbie
