FRIDAY, MAY 27, 1864. Finished the "Marble Farm". Like Hawthorne better than ever. A quiet, almost pensive day. Mrs Darwin more than kind to me. SATURDAY 28 Susie, Libbie & I had a good day together. Sewing most of the day. Little reading done this week. Am not so cheerful as I ought to be. SUNDAY 29 Attended church S.School, and class. Pleasant to trust and not be afraid, "All my hopes on thee are stayed! (Vertically down, at bottom right:-) M called
