THURSDAY, AUGUST 25, 1864. Constant peace & happiness our portion. There is something enobling in working for the soldiers I never found elsewhere. FRIDAY 26 We are having more than our reward as we go along. Very nice ride with Mr. E- into the country this eve. Mrs. Wittenmeyer came. SATURDAY 27 Went to the Hermitage today with Dr. Fuller & Bro' & Capt Sheridan & Manda. Stood amid the scenes once frequented by Genl' Jackson.
