FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 1864. The worst has come. A telegram from Father that Bro is dangerous. Rode all night. Maj Hamilton very kind My heart almost bursting with anxiety. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 1 Did not get off from L - till two. How long the hours waiting for trains. If God will only spare him till I can see him once more. SUNDAY 2 Lafayville. The most sorrowful day I ever spent. Cannot go on till tomorrow. O if he should be dead when I get there.
