THURSDAY, OCTOBER 6, 1864. Today we came to Burlington & buried our darling. That last look I will never forget. Kind friends wept with us. Mrs Darwin cook us to her home. O! what a shadow in our hearts! FRIDAY 7 Spent the day at Mrs. D -s and the eve' with Mr. Burke, Though dreaded it passed very pleasantly. Like him more than ever. SATURDAY 8 Went to West Point & spent the day helping pack up. Mother very sad, our loss felt more than ever.
