WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 14, 1864. At Uncle Eldreds, Reading "A New Atmosphere" and find it a charming traveling companion. Had to lay over here 24 hours. THURSDAY 15 Off again for Memphis. Pleasant afternoon on the train Arrived at Cairo after dark. Enjoyed reading & praying alone in my room. FRIDAY 16 Went through rain and mud in search of Mr. D - failed to find him. Off on the Belle St. Louis for Memphis.
