Dear Ellen I thought I had put off writing long enough but it was because I had no paper I got some the other day I have a letter here for you Mother was up and stayed most two weeks we had a real good visit we went to town and to the lower school house to meeting and to the slagal after to day the meeting is going to be at our schoolhouse all the time the slagal sosiety and this one join to gather and have the meeting here they are haveing another writing school our boys dont go our school I think is nearer fiseld out than last winter it is 5 weeks since anna has recited in her geography and over 1 week since she recited in arrithmetic she makes a perfect play thing of it I shall be glad when it is out I will send you a piece of my new dresses I will close you must write soon my love to all much joy to you for a new father from P M Hopkins to Elen
