Brazos Santiago Tex Feb 14th. 1865 Dear Ellen There is a few minutes yet before the mail leaves & I shall improve them writing a few lines to you. We have long been looking for a Ship and mail but none came til yesterday, the weather having been so stormy that they could not have landed if they had been here. Yesterday morning a ship came in & every body was jubilant supposing that they would get a mail but Alas!. on account of the carelessness of one of 34th Ind who had the care of the mail none came but for his regiment.
