5 CHAPTER II Answer to letters received Mar 24th &c &c The Clinton came in from N.O. to day (24th Fri) & brought us a very liberal mail. I received 6 letters all written by yourself, & Adda & Anna. We had been a month without a mail & I asshure you we were glad to get them. We got the mail just at noon. After dinner I read my letters, then drilled the Co a while & now I am going to try & get some letters ready for the mail to morrow. I dont know as I have much to write. I put nearly every thing in the other sheet. We have an other Brig Gen here now.- Gen Davis I believe, he came over on the Clinton to take command I guess. I rather think there will be something done in this section before long. I have not found out yet what Gen Wallis's mission is. Should not be surprised if we did some fighting one of these days, some where
