Brazos Sat Apr 22. 6 AM In concequence of a norther which commenced blowing early yesterday morning & blew very hard all day & night (& is still blowing) the ship has not sailed yet, so I will write a little more. We heard day before yesterday that they had rec'd papers in Bagdad of the 14, from New Orleans, & by them learned that the news of Lees capture was confirmed It was said that there was but a few papers came over & they were selling very high, - some offering 15 dollars or even more for a single paper. Cap went down to the landing yesterday morning before I came off guard. He will leave by first ship Lt Adamson was relieved from the command of Co "D" and is com'd'g. the Co.
