However they do not reach my sympathy. I think them far better off with their masters than dragging along with the army. 6th. Huzzah! only 66 miles to Savannah and a good road. Got off early and lay around awhile waiting on a bridge which the enemy had destroyed, Confound them, they had felled trees and raised the deuce generally with things, Savannah river only 15 miles and two Divisions of Jonnies there awaiting us. Wonder if they wouldn't be fooled if we didnt go there
