Well! we marched all day and made only about 13 miles. The Country is about the same as yesterday, unless I except a little more civilization, Saw some of the glorious effects of slavery in the squalid and ignorant "poor folks" of whom we saw several families "Yam" "Yam" "Yam", Confound the yams. It is eat yam, talk yam, and sleep yam. They are our most sole subsistence. They are plenty in the country and seem to be the staple food
