New York Novbr. 29th 45 Dearest Mary; I have been waiting Verry Impatiently In one Sense; hourly for Several Days Expecting a communication from My Afft.. Little Family & on the other, believing or In fact Knowing there Must have been a protracted Delay or I should Have heard from You Ere This; Almost one Month Having Elapsed without Intelligence of any Sort Not Even a paper or anything of the Kind by which I could Diagnose that the Little family with which I have the Honor of being a Member; are well and Enjoying themselves well or Vice Versa. Suffize it to say if you have not Heard from me since I Left you can form an Idea; notwithstanding You are with Your friends and have those sprightly Little fellows one with His pratling to amuse & the other with those Bright Eyes & cheerful countenanc necesseraly & of choice at all times Your companions finally My only Desire is that Yourself and ____ May all Enjoy good health Knowing; as, I, do; and Duly appreciate the Kind Reception We all Met with under Your own Dear Fathers Hospitable Roof Have Nothing to fear so far as Kindness from that source is concerned; far be it that a Doubt should be Entertained now or Ever. I would say at Erie I Dropt You a line at Buffalo a pamphlet soon as I arrived In N.Y. an other pamphlet & since some 2 or 3 papers and one Letter The Letter I Did Not Carry to the General office; but Dropt it in a Dispatch post from which Letters and papers are said to be taken twice Daily to the General office - In one paper I sent You the Number and Location of My Boarding House [Vertically down on left-hand side:-] I am not positive but; think, I shall take a Room In Different part of the city - More on the next page
