Fredrick Maryland Sept 26th, 62 I arrivd in this City this P.M. about 2 Oclock presented the Govs order & Reported for Duty - Shall be assigned tomorrow at 9 oclock A.M. where I know not, but wish I, may be sent to the Battle Field. I find many here from Different Parts of the North as far west as Iowa & East as Boston In Search of Sick & wounded Friends the Search is attended with much vexation for want of a general Directory which will soon be furnished I paid my fare through; but had the conductors & ticket Agent Endorse the payment upon the Back of my Telegraph Order Met the Regiments Captured at & Paroled from Harpers Ferry on there way to Camp Douglas going to fight the Indians
