Previous to My Having Stewarts case to treat 3 Army M.D.s had tried there 10 grs calomel & Rhic [Doers?] powd & Nitrous Ether and followed it with 2 grs quinine Every Hour - with constant Increase of all unfavorable symptoms & adding to the Danger Haemorhage from both nostrils I was called in counsil & told them the Haemorrhage would work to His advantage Might be the means of saving His Life - after a time I advised Him to Emerse the face in cold water & Draw that up the Nostrils: Result satisfactory - Next Day I was urgently Solicited to treat the case which I have Done Since without any Interuption. The Doctor continues to be a little sicker: I dont know as I care - particularly if He Recovers soon & is Disposed to go to His 16th Mass Regiment Monday 10th Novbr - Tuesday 11th Comfortable business day nothing urgent cases all prosperous Theodore Gould called on me today Informed Me Willy had been sick thought He had been sickest of anybody in that Region with that same complaint - say that Sarah Gould is not Improving; would infer from Circumstances that She is failing; says Doct. I. Nicholas had Counsil from some one in Ashtabula - Theodore Looks well is having a comfortable time this fall; Soldier as He is: Condition fortunate compared with some; Thinks the Regiment will Remain here for some time. Every move seems to Indicate it - Friday I believe we had a fine snow storm fall to the Debth of 3 Inches Seemed like Home. I Think quite probable you had a better sight; May be Beaver made Some tracks which of Course would be Larger than Mink tracks; though not quite as Interesting - I should like a Day or two in NorthEastern Ohio & N. Western Pennsylvania while Indiana is Represented thus favorably; but I must forego the pleasure: Business before Friends so long as they are well. My Respects to all that deserve them; and perhaps, some that Do not A.A. Bean
