It is Reported the Rebel cavalry passed into pennsylvania as far as Chambersburgh & in the Vicinity bought with Confederate scrip; or stole some 500 Horses & crossed by to the River passing within 8 miles of this place Last Night & tore up a portion of the Railroad track how much I do not know; but sufficient to Interfere with the Running of cars to-day We have one case of small pox in this Hospital to which I called to-day the attention of the Surgeon who has the Superintendance of Several Hospitals: He Said all the Danger of Infection had passed There was not any place to Remove Him & if people have done as they Should Do; been vaccinated all would be well if They had not they must suffer the consequences: This morning Monday visited medical Director & obtained an order for his Removal; it was Done while I was upstairs Gallery assisting in the Resection of an elbow joint. 13th this forenoon has been spent in vaccinnating have vaccinated 90. I have not Recd any intelligence from home yet. A A Bean
