October 25 1862 Dear Father, we have the corn husked and the pigs are fating well all but the black one and John thought we hade better sell it the houss is about the same as she was, onely does not limp as much as she did. The neibors say that thare has not ben such a helthy time as this. we have not heard of enny one sending out after a docter since you have ben Norris is wounded in the knee the ball struck the shin bone two inches bloo the knee and running yp the ununder the kne pan. Dannel Gould in that battle the ball enterd the back of the neck and come out the mouth and broke his jaw and cut his winpipe what a pitta. it snowed to day. I tired out a half grown rabit in the field. we are all well but Mary she has a cold but is up around. goodby James P. Bean
