Sheffield Wednesday Eve Nov. 27/ 62 Dear Father We have been looking for a letter from you ever since we got your last, which was thursday after noon: you having given us notice to that effect; but, I am not much supprised considering the circumstances in which you are placed, having all you could reasonably tend to, besides being ever in a place, where your duties may be increased, but we shall look for a letter on business matters untill it comes for we are badly in need of it. I do not know as I have asked a man for any thing yet, but what he has asked me how much he was owing. Mrs John Atwater let us have a pitcher of Apple-butter, I suppose to have for thanksgiving tomorrow. When Mother was south she saw Allanson Hurd & spoke to him about a note, which he had signed with Orrin Hall, he said he toled you, several years ago that he would not pay another cent untill there was a settlement, said he and Ebenezer Hall had talked of suing you for settlement The last endorsment on Hall's note of $58.00 was Dec. 8th 1849. The last endorsment of Hall & Hurd's note of $80.00 was Sep 11th/50. Now since these endorsments both
