There [wos] one Ohio Surgeon Asst. who Came here at the Same time I did been Relieved from Duty here & Ordered to Report to Gov Tod; where He will Draw pay for services Rendered Here. I may be obliged to do the Same wait untill I Report at Columbus befor I get My Pay - Time which Developeth all Things will throw the Requisite amount of Light upon this Subject 
Monday Dec 1st. Same Routine of Duty as usual Breakfast Soon after I Rise & Prepare for it, Then the care of sick. but first of all is the Morning Report of Number Remaining from Last Report how many admitted & how many Discharged or transferred to other Hospitals - if there is not another Battle Soon I may be Relieved from Duty for the present in a few Days. two Hospitals have been Emptied 2 More Nearly So & other Physicians 3 standing as I do are said to be on the Eve of there Departure - No More upon that Subject - Most cases I have on hand are Liveing Cases. 1.Case of Gunshot Lung is going to Die Soon: Abcess formed in Right Lung & when it burst 10 or 12 Days ago 1/2 chamber pot of puss was cought in the chamber & a Large quantity Escaped that was not Caught. He will Die before Long 
About Bandages the Sheffield Society of Ladies are all Right Lint is of Little Acct Long or Short. Coarse old Linnen & Cotton Rags are of Great Acct. any article that will readily absorb water 
Question; Why I do not write oftner is a question hard to Answer - want of Material & time are the principal if not the Sole cause - Jimmy & Mary have not written but once Each:- I like to hear from the Small children as well as the Large ones - I was worrying considerable about Money to Enable you to buy provisions & clothes; Matters of That Sort are Easier with you, I infer for the present - if Pork does not Bring a Reasonable price compared with other things I would not Sell any, but Salt it - may be you will want it all - You must act your own Judgment in this Case:
