Sheffield Dec 2nd 1862 Dear Father: We are quite anxious to hear from you, not having had a letter from you for two weeks, but perhaps the mail this evening will bring us one; at any rate we will wait patiently thinking you are much pressed with business. The Soldier's Aid Society met here Tuesday afternoon & considering the time of year, roads, &C there was ample accomadations for all that came. That same afternoon I went to ashtabula on an errand to Dr.J.C. Hubbard for N.L. Gage who wanted the Dr. to see his knee which he thinks is growing worse instead of better although his general health is good with a good appitite, he says he has gained about twenty lbs, in flesh in the last four weeks. While in town I enquired of Willard's what they were giving for pork? Ans, 3 1/2 to 4 cts Cyrus Cleveland two weeks ago thought pork would be high as there was a great many hogs being bought up a live at 3 1/2 cts per lb. If prices should be low I think it will be best to put ours in the barrell and trust luck to sell them next summer Day before yesterday Johnathan Rood's folks sent us a bbl,
