Receive any Answer; one I addressed the Gov personally; the Second Note was addressed to Adjutant Gen Hill; Requesting Him to call Gov Tod,s attention to My Case and; ask perfection of My Appointment if Perfection it Needed - still No Reply; I have Now written to Hon T.W. Powell of Delaware asking Him to close the affair; and Tendered My Resignation so far as Regimental Practice is concerned I am Entirely Unfit to go into the Field. I may Drop a Note to Surgeon General Smith to night am not Decided. about a Pork Barrell I do not Know what Directions to Give; Henry Wharfield on the Turnpike owes Me; but it is all a barrel is worth to Go & Engage & then Go after it. May be Mr Jennings can furnish one, or Mr Whitton or John Rood; I should think there would be more Barrels than Pork this Year; May be Mr Carter of Kingsville would furnish one. I want to avoid Wharfield if I can - the Salt Trade Started commenced in this form. I, Engaged a barrel at Whitneys Gage Patton & Myself were to buy together Patton took My portion of 17 shilling -$..71[/100] failed to get the Barrel and Brought 20# coarse Salt - Leaving in His hands fifty one cents in the final closing of the Salt trade unaccounted for:- further this Deponent Saith Not A.A.Bean
