Frederick City Old Episcopal Church Hosptl Dec. 26. 62 Yesterday being Christmas, was a welcome Day to Most Inmates of this old Church had a high Day Turkeys & chicken Several kinds of cake sauce apple & peach Dried. fresh steamed & stewed apples Variety of Pickles, & pies &c &c of as good quality as could be found on any Table & in Great Abundance sufficient for two Dinners - Dec 27 Just Recd Your Letter happy to hear all are well; Sorry Verry Sorry I did not attd to it & have Edward Pay Them. I was Notified in time & should have had it arranged - Sorry that John had to take that kind of a trip Cold Rough business but there is no help for it now - the Nearest You can come to it is to Notify Edward of the Amt & ask Him to pay it in to be used. Liquidating where borrowed & a small sinking fund for flour and other Purposes - I should I Think have attended to it were it not for the Columbus, Vexation; Careless Gov to make an appointment; without full power & If full Power Rests in the Governour The Surgeon General should Look at the Reccords & know who He was writing to & where to write Business is Done in a confessedly Loose Manner; & I have no Doubt the State of Ohio Is good to me for my time & Soon after New Years I Think I shall Receive My Commutation which will be all I shall want. when I go home Except I obtain a furlough, I shall have transportation paid - Mr Gage is Verry Kind Indeed. I Duly appreciate it. I shall Ever Remember all the Gages with Great Regard not forgetting Caroline & Chistina I Enclose & Mail This to-night That it May leave in the Morning; so good night Mrs B. & children all both Large & Small [Ba?] A.A.Bean
