to moving & getting settled (which by the way is not accomplished yet) and thoes attendant on Sarah's funeral, of which I wrote in my last, ate up the money faster than common. I don't understand how it happened, that you was put in, as officer of the day: was it as a sort of compliment, or, because there was nothing else for you to do, or, was it according to millitary rotation. Our winter here has not been very severe it has been no great trouble to keep comfortable especialy under cover & have had but 3 days sleighing this winter I suppose the government intends to keep its servants as comfortable as possible if it
