I did not see Island No 10 as we past it in the night. This would be, a, trip of the greatest pleasure were it not for apprehention and sad anticipations. I have felt very much cheered since I left Cincinnati, and more so as I go down, I feel that I will surely find him better; although it is impossible to tell until I get there. You must be good children and know that Mother is often thinking about you. I shall not forget the kindness of the Goulds give my best regaurds to them. We will get to Memphis to night or in the morning Children I wish you were all with me here on the boat and could see great river. Good Bye for to day I will write more when I get to Memphis. Mother
