Memphis Tenn. Aug 10th..1862 Dear Brother It has been some time since I wrote last to you. in fact I believe I have not writen to any one but Jane since we landed here and I had made calculations to write every day after we got here where letters would go and come regular. but we have been here now almost amonth and this is only the second or third letter that I have written although there has been plenty to write about and plenty time to write. I have not had awriting fit. the disposition has not been there. it seems as though the boys in the Company generaly have quit writing. I dont know the reason. but expect it is because we have lost all energy lying around camp so much. I cant see any difference in myself of course I believe I am as much of aman as I was when I left home. (perhaps more.) but howsomeever I can see adiference in the most of the boys. we have had so much hard marching hard fighting and hard living hard weather and hard Company that its hard for any man to go through it all for any length of time and
