Immediately at the end of the first half I submitted to a radio interview, which I fear went off rather poorly-perhaps, you heard it. Shortly afterwards while conversing up in the press box someone told me that the crowd was yelling, "We want Kinnick." I was hesitant to believe it, for I couldn't hear them, but when reassured I walked to the door and sure enough they were yelling just that. Wasn't it wonderful! Such a fine, spontaneous gesture! Certainly the people of Iowa have been good to me. I wanted to go down front to the microphone and tell them what a grand crowd they were, but by that time the teams were coming back on the field, and I thought it best just to acknowledge their tribute by stepping outside the
