Friday Oct 2, 1942 Dear Folks, Now this guy Hobbs is really a "beaut"! Today I picked up his officers cap and found pieces of cardboard & blotter pad tucked in behind the sweatband to make it fit tighter. This gave me a chuckle but when I found wads of toilet paper packed around the metal framework to make his cap cover fit more snugly I rolled on the floor with laughter. It seems he is trying to use his old cadet cap but with officer devices & covers and things didn't jibe too well. This will bring to George's mind the time we were climbing Long's peak & Bob stuffed penny post cards in his shoes to ease the friction. He sure is a master of ingenuity & makeshift. It sure is great to have him around; when we are together no other company is necessary. Am hoping to room with him when we move to Jacksonville if I can arrange it without hurting
