Tuesday 4 - 29 - 41 Dear Family; We have been having marvelous spring weather the past few days. The sun has been out bright and warm and there has been very little wind. It is a lot of fun to go out to football practice on a nice balmy afternoon(as a coach) ,kick a few, throw a few but mostly just walk around and take it easy....giving a little advice and encouragement here and there. On the whole spring practice hasn't been very satisfactory. The squad is rather small and the freshmen group doesn't seem to have many boys that are going to help us. Also the war psychology and the possibility of draft call seems to give the boys a "don't give a damn'* attitude which makes hard sustained work pretty impossible. I received another rather encouraging sign in re: my scholastic endeavour. On March. 19th we had a mid-semester Agency exam. Saturday we got our papers back. I got and 82 and Bill an 80. Anything over 80 in the law school is considered very fine. An average of 82 for three years would merit Coif recognition which is the honorary legal organization here. Possibly I will be able to finish out after all. Did I write you that I was going down to Yarmouth. Well it turns out that 150 constitutes the population. However, the attendance at the banquet was 134 so everything went off alright. It was a consolidated school and the surrounding farmers evidently support it very enthusiastically.for that was the third school banquet in three weeks yet the gym was full. I imagine that will be my lasttalk for this year. As yet I haven't made inquiry just how long I will have to stay around here during the month of June nor just what my duties will be. I expect I will have to move out of the Commons after the latter part of May so that means looking up another room. I am hoping that I may stay at the Phi Psi house for that month. I wrote Golden Mitchell the other day to find out what it would cost to put in a new motor in the coupe. It would come to about 80$ I guess. It would be worth it I expect if I keep if for very long. I think I will wait until I find out a little more definitely what I will be doing this summer and next year before I make a decision. I played 18 holes of golf late yesterday afternoon. It was wonderful. The grass was green and luscious. The sun was sinking away to the west and 1 had the course almost to myself. I shot and 87 with which I was pretty well satisfied as a first season effort. Incidentally I do have it firgured. It wouldn't take much practice to put me pretty well down in the scoring--I hope. Yours, S.B.
