word for it in ten years you will be as rich as you can convineantly ask for (& no humbug) I have seen it done by less promiseing fellows than your dear Self Now if you should be wise once & fly round & gather up your traps and take yourself & family west next spring I humbly beg & trust you will come by us & make a call if nothing more & as much longer as you please. Eliza promised to come this way I hope to see you all in the Spring at my humble dweling - The cars are running past my door 4 or 5 times a day now & I feel same as Old Rogh & Ready did at peace with all the world & the rest of mankind & we are a mighty people out west here (that's so Doct.) very little sleghing yet very mild scarse any frost in the ground Expect to ketch it soon Well now Doct. what about the Know Nothings I just happened to think about it & have thought much about it since I saw you. we have them here in our cities & vilages, but I do not trouble them (neverless I am one of them) I take the Tribune & Greeley you know is opposed to them I wish to refer you to the 9th Dec. 4 Page have concluded to hold on & be a society by myself & vote as I please (but never for a Paddy no never) May I expect you will answer this. I hope so & soon, my love & respects to your better half & pretty manly boys Sincerely Yours M. Smith Brother & Sister
