January, Saturday 16; 1864 Camped near Wood ville Ala I am on picket guard to day there is a greate many women & children coming in to Camp to draw ration to live on they expect us to maintain there families while they stay in the southern armies and fight us. the women comes to mill and every place they go a riding on the back of an ox with a nigro a leading of him. I bought a potatoe custard pie to day I eat te custard & the boys recomended me to take the crust for sole leather January, Sunday 17, 1864 Camped near Wood Ville Ala I was relive from picket guard at 9 oclock this morning I Spent the day in Sleeping mostly I was not very well it is a very unpleasant day
