January, Friday 29, 1864 Near Wood Ville Ala this morning there was 11 men and a seargeant sent out with the quarter master after forage I was one of that number. we went out about 5 miles and got our forage and started back I got seperrated from the rest of the Squad and Came very near being taken in out of the wet it was late in the after noon when I got in to camp I found two little Children a girl & a boy the girl was about 10 years old & the boy [4?] years [? and friends all mostt
