May, Monday 9, 1864 Near Coosa River, Ga. (and get ready to move at 12 oclock at night we are 2 two miles from the rear from where we bilt the fireshere we Bivouac for the night there has been some heavy cannonading today in the front) We march at 6 this A.M. march 13 miles to day. we pass through what is call Tunel gap this morning. we have been troubled considerable in the advance. a skirmishing the 66th Ills, Col. was wounded all so a num[ber] of his men to day. 6 oclock P.M. we stack arms wait for orders. 8 oclock P.M. the 16th & 17th A.C. mov[ed] to the rear we wait orders to proceed _________ Most the May, Tuesday 10, 1864 Near Coosa river , Ga. Eavery quiet this morning. There was nothing done until 8 or 9 oclock when there was some skirmishing commenced in the front & is very close by this afternoon it looks very mutch like rain. our Corps has done nothing but to take care in read for a battle very cloose. Nigrae is __ white man is ___ to [last line illegible]
