May, Sunday 15, 1864 Near Resaca, Ga the battle has raged very hard all day. there has been a number of our Regt. kiled & wounded to day Robert Carnes of Co H. was Kiled. our Comesary train came up to day we have been out of ration for two day. I am on Picket guard to night May, Monday 16, 1864 Near Calhoun Fery Ga. at 10 oclock las evening our boys on the left [flank?] made a Charge but but didnt make much out of it, but to our surprise we found that the rebles had evacuated Resac and lef it all to the yankees; 6 A.M. we march in to Resaca to see there works 10 A.M. we continued our march to follow the enemy & the 7th,,Iowa vol, had a large fight this morning at Calhoun fery with the enemy. we have march in all [12?] miles to day
