May, Friday 27, 1864 Battlefeild Dallas Ga at 6 oclock this morning the rebles flank and charge our Regiment they cut off our Skirmishes from the regt,,& we was compell to fall back to be reinforced which we soon got the Charge was made in mass there was but three Cos. with the Colers the res was train guard & Skirmishes. the regt,, loss 24 Kiled wounded and missing. we was relive from duty to day as reserve May, noon Saturday 28, 1864 near Battlefield Dallas Ga. our regt. did not move this forenoon. the four Co. that was on detail came in early this morning, at 4 P.M. the reb. mass there forces and charge on the 2nd Div. & 1st Iowa Battrie. they took three guns from the Battrie but they was soon recaptured by the 6st. Iowa Infty. our Brigade was ordered to there suport at duble quick time we form on the right of the 2nd Div and the left of wilder Brigade. the enemy was hansoly repulsed all round the lines
