August, Thursday 25, 1864 5 miles West of Atlanta Ga. very Still all day not much astir in Camp or on the lines today the rhumor is that the Army of the Tenn. is orderd to march. August, Friday 26, 1864 On the skirmish line [3?] miles West of Atlanta. I was on the skirmish line all night last [&?] to day there has been considerable moving to day and fireing. the Army of the Tenn. has orders to march to night. the Army of the Cumberland moved last night and to day around to left of us. we are a going to evacuate these works
