August, Saturday 27, 1864 [mistake?] On the Skirmish line 5 miles West of Atlanta. I was not relive from the Skirmish line on last night our Army moved off at 8 oclock in the eve. and lef the Skirmish line un till [2?] oclock at night the enemy shell our troups considerable while moving out and the Skirmisher had to take there part of it. we did march 15 miles to day very hard [?] Skirmish August, Sunday 28, 1864 [Moving?] [on the?] Atlanta & West Point R.R. 16 miles from Atlanta we took up line of march at 7 oclock this morning and march 6 miles to this place. got here at 1 P.M. our A.C. distroyed several miles of R Road today. the rhumor in Camp today that the 20 A.C. had a heavy battle at the Chattanoog & Atlanta Rail Road Bridge across the Chathoochie river
