October, Saturday 22, 1864 Independence Iowa It has been very rainy and wet & nasty. George and myself were a hunting but did not kill anything. Miss [?] & I was down to Quasqueton and brought a load of young folks home from the Teathers institute. October, Sunday 23, 1864 Independence Iowa I staid at home prety close all day. Parthenia and myself took a walk all over town this afternoon and then went to the ME Church in the evening
