1847 February 22 & 23rd Battle fought at Buena Visto between general Taylor and his army of five thousand troops, and Santa Anna, and army of 20,000 troops in which the mexican army were repulsed with great loss leaving about 4000 in killed and wounded on the battlefield the loss of the american army in killed and wounded about 650 - 1847 Surrender of Vera Cruz, March 29th and taken possession of on that day the garrison marching out and laying down their arms, W - Scotts Victory 1847 the battle fought at Cerra Gordo April 18th general [Scoot?] taking 5 generals and 6000 prisoners and number of officers also taking Santa Annas Carriage with many papers and his wooden leg and silver plates and he mounted a mule and took the woods
