Spiced Crab Apples 1/2 peck apples, eyes taken out; stick cloves in each apple; put into steamer and cook until you can pass a fork into them. 5 lbs sugar, handful whole allspice, handful whole cinnamon; into one pint of vinegar put the sugar and spice, then when the apples are cooked sufficiently put them into the syrup and cook until they look clear, about 20 minutes.
