Rusks When you make bread take some of the batter in a dish, heat 1/2 pint of lard, 1/2 teacupfull of Sugar, 1 egg, and a little milk, mix all together in the batter, with flour enough to make it like bread make it out in small rusks, set them to rise, and bake. Sweet Tea Cakes 1 lb. of Flour, 1/2 lb of sugar, 2 teacups full of (Bread?) powder. Rub all well together, then put in 1/2 lb of Butter, 2 eggs, 1 pint of Cold water in it and just stir enough to mix. Put in pans and bake, when cool slice it down. Ginger Crackers 1 lb of Butter or lard rubbed in as much flour as you think will do, 1 lb of Sugar, 1 qt of Molasses spice to your taste. Work all together roll it out, and bake. An Excellent Sponge Cake 1 lb. of Sugar, 1/2 lb of flour light weight, 8 eggs beaten seperately, 1 lemon.
