Thursday August 29th 1878 We washed this forenoon and worked in the fruit. The first thing after dinner I began washing the dining room carpet. I did that by the time Hatt had cleaned up the back part of the house. We had supper at five oclock and all went riding in our new buggy. Went down the river to invite company for Saturday afternoon. Took a basket of crab apples to Win and Mrs Griffen. Did up the work after we came home and went to bed early. Friday August 30th 1878 We ironed, put up more fruit and jelly, sewed the carpet together and nearly made two pair of curtains for the rooms up stairs. May was gone over to Wildes all day. The boys went to make hay in the afternoon and we were late with our supper. Win and [Allie Pilsbry?] called this evening. John Whetstone was over. It has been a pleasant day. I had a letter from Alvin Hasty and we had a letter from Charlie. The folks are well.
