40 Sunday March 28th 1875. It was rather a pleasant day. But very muddy so none of us went to church. I read a greater part of the day. But wrote a short letter to Mother and Winnie. Ira and Manford Shorts walked to church in the evening. I read aloud to Aunty. Monday March 29th 1875. The mud had settled so much that I walked to and from school today. I put in all my spare time today working on my apron. Brother Lee is twelve years old today. What a time we did have a year ago tonight. How we did dance to the tune of Captain Jinko. I went to bed rather early tonight. A letter from Charlie today. Tuesday March 30th 1875. I rode to school this morning. And as there was a business meeting of some kind at the school house in the afternoon, I dismissed school. I got home just as they were through eating dinner. I ate some and then Jennie and I got ready to go down town. Curt drove for us I got me a new calico dress and trimmings for it, and a new veil. I went to Mrs Works
