Sunday December 22nd 1935 The Iowan told this morning that Ed Kiser died suddenly in his store at Coralville last night. Hattie went to S S & Church. I did some writing letters to Louie Bremmer, Winnie, The Levegoods at Maywood, cards to The McDougalls, The McKinstrys and Ella Hays. It snowed all afternoon. Listened to radio in evening. Monday December 23, 1935 Cora home all day. She decorated the house. Hattie down town late in PM. I got a lot of mail. Read some, slept in PM. Wrote Ida in evening. very cold. Tuesday December 24th 1935 I read part of the day. Hattie down town in AM. Birdie came late in afternoon. Some presents delivered. We visited and listened to radio in evening. The Byingtons here a little while. Wednesday December 25th 1935 Intensely cold, worse than yesterday. I went down stairs at eleven oclock. Unwrapped my presents and looked at the rest. I had some lunch before the folks left by taxi for Byingtons I read while they were gone. They brought me some of the good things for my supper. Ott sent deposit checks for $90.00. Great Western Laundry & 10 div [abbreviation for dividend?] for Lorsiana Ice Co. Thursday December 26th 1935 Still very cold. Dorothy Crosby & Mildred McCollister here for the day. I did not go down for dinner. But for a visit late in afternoon and ate supper down stairs. I read some in evening. Listened to radio.
