4 Thursday January 6th 1876. Such a nice wash day. It was noon before we got the white clothes out there was so many of them. I helped do up the work after dinner and then dressed myself and went to town I took dinner at four oclock with Win and then she came home with me. Jim came over and we had a real pleasant time playing cards. Win and Mr Bently beat Jim and I right along though. After Win went home I read a little and went to bed. Friday January 7th 1876. As soon as I did up the work this morning I sat down to sew, Mr Pottle came back this morning. In the afternoon Mother went to town and I ironed. She did not get home till nearly night and I had the lamps to clean after that, most of the boys went to society tonight. After we got the work done I sewed a little and after I went to my room I wrote and read a little. A wonderfully pleasant day.
