Monday September 3rd 1923 Was at home all AM. Gerta and I went to call on The Blacks in the afternoon. Evening on the porch. Tuesday September 4th 1923 Talked with Mattie most of the AM. In the afternoon Ida Pinney Burkett grand-daughter came for me to spend the afternoon. I was so glad to see her. In the evening Gerta Edna [Morther?] and I went to picture show. Wednesday September 5th 1923 Went down town in the AM with Susan. We met Gerta late in afternoon and went through the State House. Governor Moore and wife called in the evening. Both the girls went with me to my train at ten oclock. Thursday September 6th 1923 The day was not long though it was hot. I put in the time comfortable. No scenery to speak of. Late getting to bed. Friday September 7th 1923 Not so warm today, pleasanter traveling. Reached Omaha at 8 PM. Went directly to [Concert?] Hotel. Wrote home. Had bath and went to bed. very comfortable. Saturday September 8th 1923 It is 42 years today since John & Hattie was married. I had such a good nights rest. Had meal in hotel. Took a walk around the block. wrote some letters. Left at 3.10. Reached Des Moines at 8.25. Did not get William and Mary so called Joe Williams and went up there to spend the night.
