Mrs. Weller Layer Cake 1 Cup of sugar Butter size of an egg 1 Cup of milk 2 eggs well beaten 2 Teaspoonsful baking powder sifted in two cups flour Plain Cake 1 Heaping tablespoonful 1 Cup of sugar (of lard 2 eggs well beaten A pinch of salt 2 teaspoons baking powder sifted in 2 cups flour Flavor to taste Bake in moderate oven 1 hr. Mildew may be removed by applying equal parts of soap and chalk and placing the article in the sun until the spots have vanished.
