Monday June 26th 1916 It was a pleasant day. I was busy at home all day. I was sewing on the linen dress I bought in Oklahoma. Will about house. Tuesday June 27th 1916 I did not feel very well but did the regular work and sewed on my dress. letter from sister Ida. Wednesday June 28th 1916 We heard this morning that Uncle Jim had his left leg amputated at the knee yesterday afternoon. Robert Showers left in the morning with the troops for the camp at Des Moines. I finished my dress and went down town after early supper. Walked over the river to see how Hattie was getting on fixing the house. Mrs Gibbs is back. I sat on Otts porch till 8:30 to come home Thursday June 29th 1916 I washed some this morning and gave the house a good cleaning up. Went to town in afternoon for am hour. I ironed late in afternoon and made first salad and fixed yeast to bake bread tomorrow. warm today. Friday June 30th 1916 It was a frightfully hot day. The folks were out for dinner as it was Rob & Coras wedding anniversary. put a $5.00 bill under Robs plate. The girls were invited to Cedar Rapids for the afternoon but gave it up. they stayed here till Rob came for them jist before six oclock. Will & I talked all evening on the porch. a letter from Lydia.
