Sunday December 24th 1916 It snowed some in the forenoon. I was busy about the house till after dinner. I then did up some things for The Woolfs and Reed came out for them. I put the things to go down home tomorrow in a basket. I read all evening LeGrand got home this morning. Monday December 25th 1916 Another Christmas Day. It looked like snow. We had breakfast late and I went down town at 9:15. I got some medicine from Dr Smith for my hands. Rob took me over the river in the car. Fannie had a fine dinner. And we got such nice presents. At five oclock we went over to hear the singing at the Community Tree. Hattie had lunch after we got back and later we had a "Grab bag" It began to storm so Rob brought us home in the at about nine oclock. We thought it the best Christmas for a long time. Among other mail today was a letter from [Sue?] Reed about our going to Portsmouth. We cannot get the kind of place we want there and the weather is about as cold as here. another letter was from Mrs Flint. She says Henry is very sick indeed. Tuesday December 26th 1916 There was sheet of ice every where this morning. It kept storming all day. I was busy doing some neglected sewing and worked a dress for myself. Will about the house or down to the store some. I wrote in this book and a letter to Sue & Sallie and one to Lydia Mason in the evening.
