Friday January 26th 1917 The train was on time at Jacksonville and such crowds as we found at the depot. Did not attempt breakfast there but went up street to a place Hattie and I ate at when there. Left for DeLand at 9:30 reaching there at 2:30. We walked down to Hutchinson Hall where Mrs Falk found us in a little while. Later Mr Falk and Walter came. We had supper there and listened to the band play and came out home. Saturday January 27th 1917 I talked with Mrs Falk and did fancy work. Mr Falk brought our trunk out. I put in part of the afternoon unpacking it and did fancy work. Will was out on the place with Mr Falk. Mrs went to town. Walter came home for supper and we spent the evening writing. Sunday January 28th 1917 We all went to town to church. Will and I to the Methodist. We had dinner at a good restaurant. Then took an Auto ride out to the St John river and about town. We visited on the porch till early bed-time. The weather is jist like the most delightful summer time. Monday January 29th 1917 Another pleasant day. I wrote a long letter to Hattie and some cards. Mr Falk and I walked up to Taylors and rode down town with them. I called on Mrs Slemmons and her daughter. We came home with Walter and Later we all went back to town to hear the band play and go to the picture show.
