185 Saturday July 6th 1918 I was busy in the kitchen part of the forenoon I quilted in the afternoon. We intended going to town together but it was so warm. It stormed so at supper time we could not go in the evening. The lightning was bad. A letter from Lydia I wrote her a card and wrote Cousin Jen her letter enclosed a letter from Nellie too. Sunday July 7th 1918 It stormed most of the night. still drizzling in forenoon I did some work in the kitchen and wrote Sue & Sallie Reed After dinner I read the papers about a boat sunk near [Pekin?} & Peoria. great loss of life. Rob & Cora were out awhile. I sent my letter in by them. cool in afternoon. Monday July 8th 1918 Weather pleasenter today. I was busy at the quilt when not getting the meals. Will mowed the yard. Tuesday July 9th 1918 Did some baking and got the dinner. Wrote Hattie Will & I went to town at 1.24. I went to The Library. and he to pay bills. We later were at the [Englet?] to see "The Seven Sisters". Home at 4.30. quilted after supper. Wednesday July 10th 1918 I put in some time at the quilt in the forenoon Fannie & Cora were out in the afternoon. I quilted after supper. Thursday July 11th 1918 I did cake and cookie baking in the forenoon and quilted all afternoon. The folks were out in the evening but did not get out of the car. Will down to Mrs Robinsons to get pay 15.00 for making fence for her last year.
